Nonetheless, their experience with him was a catalyst for their eventual acknowledgement of him. Jesus Christ is the true and explicit centre of our Christian faith. Our faith is our response to the revealing God; who reveals in history through the person of Jesus, through his words and deeds, especially through his miracles which form mainstream activity of the historical Jesus. This essay entitled, “The Relevance of the Study of Jesus’ Miracles Today” is an attempt point out the how the miracles done by Jesus Christ understood today.

JESUS AS THE GIVER OF ETERNAL LIFE

Page No: 41-43

Abstract: Life is a major theme in the Gospel of John. The programmatic text (Jn. 20:30-31) pronounces the chief motive of the gospel as to “have life in His name”. The Greek term ζωή αιώνιός, meaning ‘ETERNAL LIFE’ occurs seventeen times in the gospel. It is the rendering of Hebrew term, חַַיֵי עוֺלָם (a period without definite beginning or end). Ζωή doesn’t refer to natural life (yuch,) which has death as end. John uses this imagery in reference to the life that a believer gains by believing in Jesus. The importance of ‘life’ is evident from the fact that it is mentioned both in the beginning (Jn. 1:4) and the end (Jn. 20:31) and so forms an inclusion for the whole gospel. Eternal life is a partaking in the life of God. The only qualification that goes with ζωή in the gospel is αιώνιός, usually translated as ‘eternal’. But even in places where he uses life without the adjective αιώνιός, he means the same as eternal life. Αιώνιός in the gospel, indicates not only an infinite duration in the temporal sense, but also a qualitatively new life which even death cannot destroy. This academic paper is an attempt to study Jesus as the giver of eternal life.

Still, man, an insignificant creature compared to the immense grandeur of the universe, unraveled to its great secrets, extending from sub-atomic particles (quantum world) to galaxies and quasars within a short span of time. The impressive achievements of science have rendered knowledge of many previously inaccessible domains of nature. EUCHARISTIC CONTROVERSIES

DOI.png

Abstract: The corporeal presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist has been a subject of controversy for many centuries. The first controversy took place in the 9th century between two Benedictine monks of Corbie in France, namely, Radbertus and Ratramnus and the second happened in the middle of 11th century between Berengar and Lanfranc. In both cases, the conflict was between a materialistic and a spiritualistic conception of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and its effects. Later, Scholastic theologians resolved this issue and the Council of Tent gave a final word to it. The Protestant circles had various opinions regarding the Eucharistic presence of our Lord. This academic paper traces the history of the Eucharistic Controversies.
